Updated: Jul 5, 2023

Every year on June 21, we commemorate International Yoga Day. The goal of this event is to raise awareness about the importance and benefits of Yoga. Yoga helps the body and mind to be in balance. People of all ages can benefit from Yoga's physical and mental health benefits. It can help you heal faster. Yoga can also be essential to your treatment if you're sick, recuperating from surgery, or living with a chronic condition.

THE BEGINNING:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisioned the event.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi first proposed the International Yoga Day during his speech to the United Nations General Assembly on September 27, 2014. A total of 177 countries backed India's draught resolution. On December 11, 2014, the United Nations recognized June 21 as the International Day of Yoga.

THEME FOR THE YEAR 2022

The theme of this year's Yoga Day celebrations is 'Yoga for Humanity,' and about 25 crore people will participate in various activities around the world, practicing Yoga in unison in the name of better health and wellness for everyone.

Aside from that, for this year's International Yoga Day, 2022, a new and original program called 'The Guardian Ring' has been planned.

The Mass Yoga Demonstrations in the participating countries will appear to be happening one after the other, almost in unison, as the sun seems to move from east to west around the globe, underscoring the theme of 'One Sun, One Earth.'

YOGA'S BENEFITS INCLUDE:

4. Yoga can help you feel more energized and happier.

After getting into a yoga regimen, you may notice an increase in mental and physical energy, a boost in attentiveness and enthusiasm, and fewer negative feelings.

5. Yoga aids in stress management.

According to the National Institutes of Health, scientific data demonstrates that Yoga helps with stress management, mental health, mindfulness, healthy eating, weight loss, and good sleep.

Individually, Yoga is highly essential, and it can also have a significant impact on the world. While the meaning of Yoga varies depending on the philosophical or theological framework in which one practices it, moksha, or emancipation, is the ultimate goal of Yoga. To live a healthy and peaceful life, we should practice it as much as possible.
